Bunghatta.ac.id. Bung Hatta University Teaching and Education Faculty lecturers held Library Management Training based on e-library to support the literacy movement for children in the Tanah Ombak Community, Padang City.
This activity is a Community Partnership Program (PKM) funded by a grant from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in 2018 carried out by Witri Annisa, M.Pd., as chairman with members of Rio Rinaldi, M.Pd. and Ade Fitri Rahmadani, M.Pd.T. One of the series of activities carried out in this PKM is the training of e-library based library management in the Tanah Ombak Community.
Witri Annisa, S.Pd. M.Pd said this service activity was carried out with the aim of increasing the reading interest of the community and literacy culture in the Tanah Ombak Community. One way to achieve this goal is by providing suggestions for the e-library library in the Community.
"The Tanah Ombak community has launched a culture of literacy by providing library facilities. There are approximately 3000 books available which are private collections and donations from various parties, "he added
Related to this, Witri said, the books that were not yet neatly arranged in the wave land community needed to be managed properly. The books have not been indexed or have not been given a serial number. Borrowing is also done through a manual system. Many books were reduced because they were not properly recorded.
"Seeing this, an effort is needed to manage library management through training and installation of e-library devices. This activity has been implemented from March to May 2018, "said the lecturer of Indonesian Language and Literature Education.
It is hoped that the condition of the library in Tanah Ombak will be organized and well managed. The books are grouped into serial numbers based on the type of book. If there is a book borrower, the manager can be helped with the e-library system.
"By providing library facilities in Tanah Ombak, children can read freely and well-arranged according to the catalog. Reading activities will be more meaningful if linked to knowledge so that they can support the academic abilities of Tanah Ombak children. Thus the culture of literacy that has been created needs to be fostered so that it is patterned and continuous so that reading activities are more meaningful, "he explained. (** UBH Ubay-Humas)
